ResQ2Feed Oneida County is an innovative food recovery program dedicated to fighting hunger and reducing food waste in our community. We rescue high-quality surplus food from restaurants, grocers, corporate cafeterias, and schools. This food is delivered directly to nonprofit partners including food pantries, shelters, meal sites, senior housing centers and more.

THE FOOD WASTE CRISIS

As much as 40 percent of all food goes unsold or uneaten in the United States.

Instead of being consumed, this food ends up in a landfill, where it decomposes and releases methane. This makes reducing food waste one of the top three ways to reverse climate change.

THE PROBLEM OF HUNGER

Hunger and food insecurity is a big problem in our community. In fact, 13.1% of Oneida County’s population is experiencing food insecurity. One in five children are unsure where they will get their next meal.

Sadly these are some of the highest rates in New York State.

WHAT WE’RE DOING ABOUT THE PROBLEM

Rather than seeing food waste as a problem, ResQ2Feed Oneida County sees food waste as a solution. It bridges the gap between food abundance and food insecurity through advanced technology and a network of dedicated volunteers.

Our mission is simple but powerful. We work to prevent food waste by connecting surplus food with people in need.  By connecting surplus food, with those who need it most, we’re addressing food insecurity and reducing environmental impact in Oneida County.
