What We Do

ResQ2Feed Oneida County is a food rescue nonprofit organization with a primary focus of reducing hunger while also reducing food waste. We coordinate the daily pick-up of donated excess food from grocers, restaurants, hospitals, schools, manufacturers and more. Food is then distributed directly and immediately to nonprofit recipients, such as pantries, shelters, youth programs and senior centers,

This food is be used for hot meals or as grocery distribution for people who are struggling and food insecure.

Our Mission

ResQ2Feed Oneida County’ Mission:

  • Eliminate Hunger
  • Eliminate Food Waste
  • Improve nutrition in food insecure communities
  • Reduce methane emissions caused by food waste

We envision a commmunity with zero hunger and zero food waste.

We strive to make a positive impact on our community, and take our responsibility seriously in addressing the root causes of hunger and food waste.

How it all works.....

Our innovative ResQ2Feed Oneida County app (powered by Food Rescue Hero™) is an end-to-end system that matches food donors to nonprofit partners and mobilizes volunteers to efficiently and cost-effectively transport food between locations.

Once there is a match between a food donation and a nonprofit partner who would like to receive it, the ResQ2Feed app alerts nearby volunteers of the available food rescue opportunity.

The app guides volunteers through the rescue, providing built-in navigation and delivery verification, so volunteers can easily complete their rescue.

We provide Oneida County food businesses with a free and simple way to redirect their surplus to those who are food insecure.

From the businesses that generously donate their surplus food, to the dedicated volunteer drivers that provide the transportation, to the nonprofit partners who help us distribute the food to those in need, our food recovery program is a true community effort.

Turning Excess Food into Food Access

More than 40% of food in the United States is wasted. At the same time nearly 30,000 of our neighbors in Oneida County are food insecure.

Good food belongs with people, not landfills! Help us turn excess food into food access in our community.
